Nonverbal communication is a central component of human interaction and thus requires careful consideration, especially by teachers, as their profession requires substantial interpersonal interaction. The objective of this report is to provide teachers with a greater understanding of nonverbal communication and its relevancy for student-teacher relationships and the learning process. It will begin elucidating the fundamental aspects of nonverbal communication and will explore different types of nonverbal communication, noting their relevancy for teachers. It will then discuss nonverbal communication issues that are highly relevant to teachers, such as the role of nonverbal communication in classroom management and the considerations required in interactions with students with deficient nonverbal skills.
